In the September 2000 issue I wrote a piece (“Going it Alone in the Wild”) dealing with the pros and cons of hiking and photo graphing solo. It included transparencies shot in Colorado, Utah and New Hampshire.

I wrote an article in April 1998 (“ Higher Ground, the Role of Intangibles in Out door Photography”), a non-technical piece that delved into what motivates the outdoor shooter and the attributes necessary (work ethic, patience, etc.) to increase your chances of getting the deal done. Photographs from Utah, Colorado, Washington and New Hampshire were used to illustrate the concepts.

In the July/August 1996 edition, “STORMLIGHT” was published. It outlined a myriad of techniques I’ve found invaluable in working under the adverse conditions so often encountered in wilderness areas and at high altitude. Chromes from California, Utah and Washington helped bring home the points.

An article entitled “ America’s Greatest Hikes, 8 Spectacular Adventures” was included in the August 1995 edition (not authored by yours truly). One of my photographs from the Boulder River Wilderness (Cascade Range, Washington) was included, my first published work.
